Misbehaving Computer

Sometimes advanced technology is not a good thing; Like when your computer dies, even when it is plugged in. Yep, that is what is going on here! At the end of the business day today, I will be fedex-ing my wonderful (or in this case-not so wonderful) laptop to HP for some much needed repairs.

If you need any planning/consulting/coordinating, please email me at mail@onceinalifetimeweddingsandevents.com.  I will occasionally check my email and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for understanding! :)

Association of Bridal Consultants

Last Tuesday was the monthly ILNG Conference Call for the Midwest Region ABC group.  I always look forward to these calls, as there is some interesting facts or up-to date trends that we wedding professionals look forward to learning about.

Every month we have a featured speaker, and this month our guest speaker was Gerard Monaghan, whom is the co-founder of ABC.  Just a little bit about ABC... The Association was started in 1955.  Gerard took over the association in 1981. He was priviledged to be a huge part of the growth of the association.  The Association of Bridal Consultants is now at almost 4000 members!! 1/3 of those are consultants (I am one of those), 1/3 vendors (think linens, florists, etc.), and the other third are novice members.  Wow! That is quite interesting!

One note that Gerard emphasized was encouraging local networking.  For a bridal consultant, this is how I get most of my business.  I see vendors work, their talents, and then I get to know them.  I want to know if that photographer will catch that special handshake between the groom and his now Father In Law.  I want to see the quality of the printed photos. I will not recommend a vendor to a client unless I have personally spoken to the vendor, as well as seen the quality of their work.  This is part of what is so great about being a part of the Association of Bridal Consultants.  I get to work with other very educated, very talented professionals.  As a client, that is the person you will want to hire!

Fall Decorations

Yes, Christmas time is only two weeks away, and I am just now posting my pumpkins pictures!

This year I didn't want to put orange pumpkins on the front porch. I thought about carving, but did not want to find pumpkin seeds around the house weeks later. An idea quickly came to mind....paint! White paint to be exact.  So I went down to my craft area and gathered the supplies I would need.  As I was painting away with a brush, I was not happy with my results (I am a perfectionist at my decorations!!)  So I went out to the garage and found....Rustoleum!!  When my husband and I bought out first home last year, we became a huge fan of this stuff!

Here are some pictures of my pumpkins...that are still in fact in great condition on my front porch!  The white, black, and silver pumpkins and gourds are not only a fall decoration, but now a winter decoration as well. :)

That's my now 16 mo. old daughter checking out the display. :)
